Africa World Airlines Limited was founded by Togbe Afede XIV. The current shareholders are as follows:
- SIL (Strategic Initiatives Limited) – a private equity and portfolio investment firm owned by Togbe Afede XIV;
- Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), a public pension trust
- Zhongjia Investment Management Ltd (China) – whose shareholders are CADFUND and HNA Group.
AWA’s Air Carrier License number 222 was received on 4th March 2011. The ICAO Code is “AFW” and the radio call sign is “Blackstar”.

This document has been drawn up to be in conformity with the Labour Act 651 (2003) and the 1992 Constitution of Ghana. As far as possible, no infringement of the Labour Act is contemplated. However, where any rule is found to be in conflict with a Labour law, the Labour law and the constitutional provisions shall prevail.

Management believes that open and effective communication is vital to the achievement of the Company’s objectives. All employees are therefore encouraged to seek advice or information from their respective immediate supervisors and to discuss issues that concern them. Since it is to every one’s benefit to secure a prompt and fair solution of problems that may arise, employees should feel free to discuss their problems with immediate superiors. Employees are also encouraged to approach any senior manager on issues they need clarification on.
Management will on the other hand make every effort to inform employees about developments in the Company.
